No, that is not a typo, it is actually called Welsh Rarebit.  So, what is it?  Well, it actually toast with hot cheese sauce poured over it.  So why call it Rarebit?  Maybe the same reason that a soup that does not include a turtle is called Mock Turtle Soup….we may never know.
